Have you ever listened to a good teaching that kept you going back again and again?
I’ve been there. Whether it’s the creativity displayed or the insight that make them timeless. In this blog I would like to share with you six teaching series, all from the same person, that have impacted me so profoundly. Over the years I have gone back to them again and again.
Before I do, let me share with you the circumstances that led me to listen to them. My wife and I had lost an eight month old pregnancy. We were preparing to receive a bouncing baby boy. So we had moved a baby crib in and had decorated the house, bought baby clothes. Test results had revealed that it was a baby boy so we had chosen a name for him. We were going to call him Shawn Lagen. But the dream was cut short by a malaria and pneumonia attack. Two weeks later, Shawn was gone and we were back home from hospital. The two weeks were hard, but having returned home, we began a fresh new battle with why. Why did we have to suffer the loss of a baby. Why us? Why, why, why? Unfortunately, there are no easy answers to such questions.
One thing led to another and I found myself listening to a lot of teachings online after resuming my job. That’s how I stumble upon these teaching series by R.C. Sproul. R.C. was a master at teaching. He knew how to simplify complex concepts and ideas. He will make you love theology and the word of God. And if you are seeking answers or perhaps you are hurting like I was. May the Lord meet you at your point of need.

Understanding justification is critical to our salvation. Martin Luther, that great reformer, said, “Justification by faith is the article upon which the church stands or falls.” He was right! It was this issue that led to the breaking away of the Protestant church from the Roman Catholic Church. I believe that both the history and the doctrine taught here are important in tracing our roots as Christians and knowing how we are justified before God. This series made the most impact on my life and I can’t wait to hear how it has impacted yours.
God is not an absentee Go. He did not create the world and then left for vacation. Instead he’s actively involve in the day-to-day affairs of our lives. Through this teaching series you will learn that God is in control and how he governs everything by his power. Providence is remarkable.
This deals with the difficult doctrine of election; God choosing a people for himself to redeem. What’s difficult in that? You may say. The fact that some are not chosen is an issue to deal with. I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
