This is the second part of a two part article on the changes that we made or are making at University Community Church. You can read the first part here.
I pointed out that after reviewing our vision, we came out with two decisions: to refocus and to buy land.
Well, here’s why we need land. Since, 2014 when we started as a church, we’ve been renting a facility near Gulu University. Our landlord has been a nice man who has allowed us also to build a temporary church building besides his house. Few landlords would allow that.
The bamboo house we built has served us well for the last five years. We’ve literally done everything in this bamboo house, from prayers, to movies to parties and overnight prayer. It has served us well.
However, strategically thinking, the bamboo house has served its terms. We need a new place to be able to multiply the impact of our discipleship and leadership develop. A place where we can have facilities such as a library, training space, basketball court, among others.

We are excited about the possibilities that lies ahead. The freedom we’ll have when we finally move to a place of our own. It will be a dream come true.
Even more exciting is the growth that we are all anticipating when we move to our own facility.
We can’t wait.
